Full Session Description (as long as you would like):
Staff training is essential to the success of public library services. Well-prepared staff not only deliver high-quality services but also contribute to the continuous improvement of the library. Plano Public Library initiated a multi-year project to build a sustainable staff training system by implementing three key initiatives: an innovative training approach, a collaborative development process, and a self-sustaining model. First, the training emphasizes peer teaching, recognizing all staff as potential trainers and preparing them to deliver reliable, effective instruction to their colleagues. Second, training content is developed collaboratively by staff members from various levels and positions. Third, the system is designed to be self-sustaining, requiring no external resources; staff both develop the training content and facilitate ongoing peer-to-peer learning. This approach empowers staff, fosters a culture of shared expertise, and ensures the long-term viability of the training program.
