About Me:
Originally from Southwest Virginia, Abigail “Abby” Schleifer (she/her) grew up surrounded by the Appalachian Mountains. She moved just slightly south to North Carolina for college, and received a BA in History & Gender Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Following her undergraduate degree, Abby also graduated with her Masters in Library and Information Science from UNCG in May of 2022. While pursuing her graduate studies, Abby had the opportunity to work as a Teaching Assistant and Graduate Research Assistant for UNCG’s Library and Information Science Department. She also completed several internships with UNCG's Walter Clinton Jackson Library, the Greensboro History Museum, and Guilford Technical Community College. Most recently, Abby briefly served as the Interim Chief Librarian at Touro University’s Lander College for Women in Midtown Manhattan. Her research interests include information literacy instruction, performing arts librarianship/resources, archival/collective memory, and Appalachian history/identity.
