About Me:
Jamillah Scott-Branch currently serves as the Director of the Library at Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q), having previously held the position of Associate Director. Her career working in libraries spans various roles and institutions, showcasing a progression of responsibilities and expertise. Before joining GU-Q, Jamillah was the Assistant Director of Library Services at the James E. Shepard Memorial Library at North Carolina Central University (NCCU). In this role, she oversaw research and instructional services, interlibrary loan, and government documents, while also supervising the Music Library and the Curriculum Materials Center Library. Her experience encompasses strategic planning, staff and budget management, recruitment, hiring, and performance management. Additionally, she has successfully written and served as both Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator on several funded grant initiatives. Jamillah’s professional journey includes positions such as Head of Research and Instructional Services and Technology and Media Services Librarian. Her diverse background also features experience working for several non-profit organizations, such as Near West Side Community Development Corporation in Chicago and the Alliance of AIDS Services-Carolina in Durham, NC. Furthermore, Jamillah worked in retail management for several years. Academically, Jamillah completed her Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership with a focus on Higher Education at East Carolina University. She also holds a Master of Library Science from NCCU and a Bachelor's Degree from Fisk University.
