About Me:
Kara came into the public library world from the public education sphere, from which she channels her passion for equity and access. She is passionate about cultivating community partnerships that elevate library efforts through collaboration as well as developing library services that her local community needs and wants through data analysis and teamwork. She finds that her curiosity and her strength in coordinating team collaboration are her most helpful tools in her job - fueling her resilience and eagerness to learn.
Kara earned her B.S.Ed in Early Childhood Education from the University of Georgia, her MLIS from Kent State University, is a Georgia Public Library Service PINNACLE 2022 graduate, and is an ALA Emerging Leaders 2024 cohort member. Her previous leadership positions include North Georgia Associate Libraries Vice-Chair/Chair (2018-2022), GLA Professional & Continuing Education Vice-Chair/Chair (2021-2022), and GLA Conference Committee Chair (2021-2022).
