About Me:

Nelson Dent is a Librarian Trainer and Employee Development Specialist for the Pioneer Library System in Norman, OK. In this role, he works with administration and develops trainings that reflect library core competencies and system strategic plan for new hires, along with 285+ staff. In addition, he serves as the system coordinator of the library online chat service. At Pioneer, he graduated from the first class of IMPACT PLS, Pioneer’s leadership program and has served on various community committees and boards for the past twenty years.

Originally from outside of Washington, D.C., he earned his BA in Communications and Theatre from Averett University in Virginia and holds a MA in Theatre Arts from Oklahoma City University where his focus was on the ADA and Theatre. He also holds a MLIS in Library and Information Studies from the University of Oklahoma. Currently, he serves on the City of Norman’s ADA Citizens Advisory Committee.
