About Me:
Mr. Sok Lak is community library mobilizer in library communities in Cambodia and a co-founder of Scholar Library, a community library with mission enhancing literacy and independent reading for healthy environment and knowledge economy. The library he managed always have new initiative program, activities and services to activate potentials of book and library industry for sustainable development. He actively working closely with libraries and book community to improve library organization and reading quality in his community. Recently, he initiated new service called acquisition service, service to support any libraries and knowledge-based organization to develop book collection development especially focus on book/documents collection. With his leadership, from 2016 he mobilized and led over thousand youths actively many related reading and book activities including Cambodia Book Fair 2016-2018, IBBY Cambodia’s International Children Book Day 2017-2019, Cambodia Library Festival 2017-2018. National Reading 2017, Khmer Literature Festival 2017-2018 and the most recent is initiator of Cambodia Book Day 2022 which licensed by World Book Day. Besides that, he is also one of key actor to raise awareness on topic “libraries and United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” in Cambodia along hand with other 76 countries across the world. Moreover, Mr. Sok Lak has a wide network and 5 years professional work in media sector as journalist. Along with journalism background, he also actively engages and working closely with local and international journalists to cover and spread news on book and library industry since he jumped into book and library industry. During his employment life and university life, he attended hundreds of conferences, workshops, seminars, training and social activities from international level, national level to local level and community. Mostly, he attended economic, entrepreneurship, environment and technology topics. As his formal education background, he get a bachelor degree of development economics from Royal University of Law and Economics (RULE) and bachelor degree of English Literature from University of Cambodia (UC). Mr. Sok Lak’s personal motto is social benefit plus pareto efficient trend individualism with long term benefit.
