The modern-day librarian frequently finds themselves helping vulnerable populations, individuals with chronic mental illness and addictions issues, and often deescalating difficult patron situations. This can take a toll on anyone’s mental health and leave you feeling stressed, burnt out, and compassion fatigue. Learn the power of validating and affirming yourself and others, effective therapeutic self-care techniques, how to cope with difficult patron interactions, and combat compassion fatigue.
